In the Olde Kensington section of Philadelphia, Que Chula es Puebla is a petty solid find.  The most remarkable feature we immediately noticed was how SPICY the food was compared to most Puebla-stye taquerias in the areas.

From the red and green salsas served with the complimentary (nd addictive) tortilla chips to the sauces added on any of the dozens of standard entree offerings, this stuff is PICANTE.

I ordered three Chalupas (with al pastor and sauce.)  The sauce, though, delicious, overpowered the subtle nature of the pineapple-laced marinated pork. They were consumed quickly though. The fresh-made tamale with chicken was a nice way to ease the burn on my tongue.

Son ordered a burrito with tinga which was huge, and satisfying.

At 11:30 on a Saturday, they did not have a lot of tables filled, but were doing an AMAZING take-out business.  Our dishes took longer than we are used to in terms of delivery, but everything was made-to-order (wife’s tinga enchiladas verde – not pictured, were stunning in appearance.)

No worries for gringos .. our server, a nice young man who looked like he stepped out of a Mayan painting, spoke unaccented English. He was polite, and checked on out table, ensuring we were pleased, and offering refills.

If you are a fan of this style of Mexican food, and appreciate a bit more fire than you are used to, please try it… If you don’t care for heat, you can always skip the sauces.
